Observations of Racism, Discrimination, and Injustice in our environment .

In today’s society, racism, discrimination, and injustice are still serious issues that affect many of our people. The novel "A Good Kind of Trouble" by Lisa Moore Ramée serves as an inspiration for this blog post, where we will be exploring instances of these social issues observed in our surroundings and discussing effective solutions to all my observations. 

Observation 1: Racism in the Classroom

In our school environment, it is not uncommon to witness acts of racism, both subtle and overt. Students from minority ethnic groups are sometimes overlooked or given less attention by teachers, leading to a sense of marginalization.

Solution: 

To address this issue, teachers and school administrators should be trained on how to recognize and address racism in the classroom. Providing diverse and inclusive teaching materials can also help foster a sense of equality among students from all backgrounds.

Observation 2: Discrimination in Public Spaces

Discrimination can be witnessed in various public spaces, such as parks, shopping malls, and transportation hubs. People may be subjected to differential treatment based on their appearance, religion, or other factors.

Solution: 

Raising awareness about the impact of discrimination can help make public spaces more inclusive. Implementing strict policies against discrimination and providing adequate training for staff in these spaces can contribute to creating a safer environment for everyone.

Observation 4: Injustice in School Sports.

In school sports, injustice can often be observed in the form of favoritism and unequal opportunities. Coaches may give preferential treatment to certain players, providing them with more playing time, better training, and greater recognition, even when their skills do not necessarily justify it. This creates an unfair environment for other athletes who work just as hard, if not harder, but do not receive the same support.

Solution:

To address this issue, schools should implement fair and transparent selection processes for sports teams, with clear criteria for evaluating athletes performance. Encouraging regular open communication between coaches, athletes, and parents can help ensure that everyone's concerns are heard and addressed. Additionally, providing equal training opportunities and recognition for all athletes will promote a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone involved in school sports.
